Statement
of School Aims
Aims and
Values: It is important that every pupil at Liceo
Vassalli develops fully his talents and abilities.
For this to be effective, the learning environment must
be happy, secure and purposeful.
Therefore
the school should:-
Be open to
all who have an interest in what the school is doing and
that everyone, be they parents, pupils or others in the
community, feel able to approach us at all times.
Be a
partnership of people working together. Everything
must be done to encourage a creative partnership between
pupils, parents and all school staff in which learning
can flourish.
Be
accountable to parents and others. Part of our work
is to inform others, listen carefully to them and
respond. Naturally, parents are also
accountable, especially with regards to the conduct and
attendance of their sons.
Encourage
high expectations requiring everyone to do his
best. One of the saddest things in education is
under-achievement and so everyone, no matter their
ability, is expected to work hard to develop the
practical skills, knowledge and understanding required
for full participation in life and work. It is intended
that Liceo Vassalli establishes a proud tradition for the
highest standards in all aspects of school life.
Be aware
of the need to review and evaluate all activities
including those curricular, extracurricular or
administrative which must maintain their relevance to the
requirements of pupils, parents and staff. Good use
of Staff Development ensures the most effective methods
of teaching and administration.
Follow a
policy of equal opportunities so that access to all
subjects is provided to all pupils. Advice about
subject choices and career potential offered to pupils
and parents will be based on the aptitude and aspirations
of the pupils.
Encourage
the participation of all members of Liceo Vassalli in the
various curricular and extra-curricular activities that
go on in the school. Everyone profits from
contributing to such activities as well as benefiting
from them.
Be a
caring community in which individuals feel valued and
value others. We aim to make Liceo Vassalli a
community in which values such as self-respect,
