The school library is open during breaks for use by students. Students may use reference books for research on the premises or borrow books for use at home. This year the library shelving was re-arranged to make the place more user-friendly and with more space, better access and supervision. By re-arranging readers' tables, the library can also be used for conferences and meetings for anything up to 50 guests.
A quarter of our students were awarded book prices during the Prize Day Ceremony at the end of May 1998. In the near future we expect to computerise the library, and as part of the Form 5 Information Technology coursework we intend to input book titles to eventually replace the traditional catalogue.
At the textbook level we introduced a system to reduce the number of books the students bring to school. Several subject teachers were given a set of books for use in class while students kept their own copy for use at home, resulting in a satchel/schoolbag weight reduction of some 50%.
